Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS)

the basic material requirements planning (MRP) was supposed to be done in SAP S/4HANA, while PP-DS was supposed to be used only for detailed scheduling

 Configuration

  • Embedded PP-DS was introduced as a business function SCM_PPDS_ON_ERP,
  • Activate the transfer of the transaction data by following the configuration path, Advanced Planning Basic Settings Activate Advanced Planning and Scheduling Settings For Data Transfer.
  • The model and version are created via Transaction /SAPAPO/MVM
  • CIF settings SAP IMG Advanced Planning Integration Via Core Interface.
  • SAP IMG Advanced Planning Global Settings Maintain Global Parameters and Defaults
  • Activate MRP-Based DS
Master Data in PP-DS
  • Location can represent a plant, a business partner, a shipping or receiving point, or an MRP area. You can create locations in PP-DS by using Transaction SE38 followed by executing report /SAPAPO/CREATE_LOCATION.
  • Material master: For materials to be planned with PP-DS heuristics, you need to define MRP type “X0” in the MRP1 tab. View Advanced planning
  • Work Center/Resource, select the Advanced Planning flag; The PP-DS resource created as a work center has the prefix “W”.
  • Sources of Supply
    • the PP-DS source of supply is the PDS, which represents a combination of BOM, routing, and the production version
      • In-house: executing report PPDS_ERP_CUSLNTRTO_CIF_REPORT, you can generate the PDS based on the production versions
      • External procurement: generate an integration model via Transaction CFM1 (or execute report RIMODGEN via Transaction SE38) and then activate the integration model via Transaction CFM2 (or execute report RIMODAC2 via Transaction SE38).

Constraints
When designing a BOM, you must ensure that the parent material is an
advanced planning material if at least one of its components is an advanced planning
material.
