2988541 - How storage location is determined during production order creation?

1. Create production order in CO01 or 'Create Production Order' app
2. Check the storage location for the component in the component overview.
3. Storage location is not as expected, not as it is defined in material master or in BOM.

There are 3 standard ways how the storage location is defined automatically for components during production order creation. Point 1 has the lowest and point 3 the highest priority in standard SAP.

1. Storage location is defined in material master.
Use transaction MM02/MM03 or Create/ Change Material app and access tab Work Scheduling to see if storage location is maintained.

2. Storage location is defined in the bill of material.
Use transaction CS02/CS03 or app Manage Bill of Material app tab Status/Lng Text in Item view to see if storage location is maintained.

3. Storage location is defined within the supply area.
Use transactions CR02/CR03 or app 'Change Work Center' / 'Create Work Center' tab Basic Data & PK06 Details view to see if storage location is maintained.

Please note that the system transfers the storage location from production supply area (PVBE-LGORT) only if storage location data (MARD) is maintained for this storage location for the material.
